Corkboard back coaster featuring an illustration by Allistair Burt (Hole in My Pocket) of John Emms’ painting, Callum, from the collection at the National Galleries of Scotland.

This utterly charming rendition of the beloved Callum, featuring a cute mouse perched behind him, is the perfect homage to the cherished artwork that hangs on the wall at the National Galleries of Scotland. You can enjoy your morning brew and brighten up any kitchen or home office with this charming Callum coaster.

Callum was a Dandie Dinmont terrier owned by Mr James Cowan Smith who bequeathed an important amount to the National Gallery of Scotland in 1919. His bequest had two conditions: the first that the Gallery provided for his dog Fury, who survived him; the second that Emms’ picture of his previous dog Callum should always be hung in the Gallery. Both conditions were fulfilled, and although Fury is long since dead, Callum still hangs in the Gallery in memory of his owner.

This design is created and produced by Scottish artist, architect and ‘Hole in My Pocket’ creator, Allistair Burt. Burt has created works for a variety of different projects from exhibitions, illustrations, and short films. In the last couple of years, he has started to develop products that blend his unique illustrative style with a cheerful sense of humour.
