Framed limited edition lithograph print Untitled (Che Sara Sara Sara), 2019 by Scottish artist Charles Avery. Printed on 315 gsm paper signed and numbered by the artist. Produced as part of an expanding collection of work by Avery with the ‘Island’ belief systems and aesthetics in mind and can be seen adorning the fictional characters and spaces of Onomatopoeia in Avery's drawings.

The Island is located at the centre of an archipelago of innumerable constituents. The gateway to the Island is the town of Onomatopoeia, once the stepping off point of the pioneers who first came to the place, turned colonial outpost, turned boom town, bustling metropolis, depression ravaged slum, and regenerated city of culture and tourist destination.

This large series of works created within a specific framework is rooted in Avery's own life and upbringing on the Isle of Mull off the West coast of Scotland and could be interpreted as a philosophical meditation on art-making and different ideas of truth.

Scottish artist Charles Avery is one of the most interesting contemporary artists at present, with a considerable international reputation. Since 2004, the Scottish artist Charles Avery (1973, Oban, UK) has dedicated himself to the invention of an imaginary island, new corners of which he continues to chart through drawings, sculptures and texts.
