Victoria Crowe has painted some spectacular landscapes of which Blue Snow and Fiery Trees is one of the most stunning. The trees catch the rays of the sun in their upper branches, with a light that seems alive. Already in shadow as the sun sets, their lower trunks are black and the snow beyond is blue in the approaching dusk.
Crowe is a British artist working and living in Scotland. She moved to Scotland in 1968 and began teaching at Edinburgh College of Art. She is a painter of still life, interiors, landscapes and portraits, and works in oil and in watercolour. Her work is often autobiographical and visits to Italy, Madeira, Egypt and India have influenced her work.
