60 x 51 cm stretched canvas print of Ruelle à Vernonnet [Lane at Vernonnet] by Pierre Bonnard (60 cm) stretched canvas from the National Galleries of Scotland collection. Printed in a finely textured artist-grade cotton substrate at 400gsm which consistently reproduces image details with outstanding clarity and detail.
In 1912 Bonnard bought a house in Vernonnet a village on the Seine, northwest of Paris. He became good friends with fellow artist Claude Monet who lived in the nearby town of Giverny. When Bonnard moved to Vernonnet he abandoned the dark colours he had used in his early work for a palette of glowing purples, pinks, greens and yellows, as seen in this painting.
Pierre Bonnard (3 October 1867 – 23 January 1947) was a French painter, illustrator and printmaker, known especially for the stylized decorative qualities of his paintings and his bold use of colour.
