A fun greeting card featuring illustration an by Allistair Burt (Hole in My Pocket) of John Emms’ painting, Callum, from the collection at the National Galleries of Scotland.
This utterly charming rendition of the beloved Callum, featured on this greeting card, is the perfect homage to the cherished artwork that hangs on the wall at the National Galleries of Scotland. This is the perfect card for the art lover in your life.
Callum was a Dandie Dinmont terrier owned by Mr James Cowan Smith who bequeathed an import amount to the National Gallery of Scotland in 1919. His bequest had two conditions: the first that the Gallery provided for his dog Fury, who survived him; the second that Emms’ picture of his previous dog Callum should always be hung in the Gallery. Both conditions were fulfilled, and although Fury is long since dead, Callum still hangs in the Gallery in memory of his owner.
