Sweet card featuring an illustration by Allistair Burt (Hole in My Pocket) of John Emms’ painting, Callum, from the collection at the National Galleries of Scotland.
This utterly charming rendition of the beloved Callum features a little mouse in love with the cutest version of Callum. This unique card is not only the perfect homage to this cherished artwork, but it is also the perfect card to give to the art lover in your life.
Callum was a Dandie Dinmont terrier owned by Mr James Cowan Smith who bequeathed important amount to the National Gallery of Scotland in 1919. His bequest had two conditions: the first that the Gallery provided for his dog Fury, who survived him; the second that Emms’ picture of his previous dog Callum should always be hung in the Gallery. Both conditions were fulfilled, and although Fury is long since dead, Callum still hangs in the Gallery in memory of his owner.
