Britain is Best, is an artwork inspired by the Unionists in Belfast, their identity and idealised version of Britain, made during his Channel 4 series ‘Who Are You?’. The five unionists are represented riding this horse while carrying a timeworn Union Jack.
Born in Chelmsford, Essex in 1960, Grayson Perry lives and works in London, UK. He has gone from taking evening classes in pottery to winning the Turner Prize, presenting television programmes on Channel 4 and writing acclaimed books. Always keen to do the unexpected, pottery allowed him the opportunity to indulge his fascination with sex, punk, and counterculture amongst other things, in the most unlikely and polite of art forms. Today, he is one of Britain’s most celebrated artists and cultural figures.
